I have never been to DBP. I know they are a chain restaurant, but there's a location close to my friend's new house. I'm curious if they are worth visiting or getting takeout. Are they any good? How do they compare to another chain, like Sonny's.

Thanks!

Slightly better food than going to McDonalds and getting a McRib

I haven't been to Sonny's but I did work at the BBQ chain Luther's when I was a teen. It's comparable to Luther's but it's a smaller restaurant. I don't eat at Dicky's often but for the price and what you get, it's not bad at all.

I’ve been to Dickey’s and a McRib is better than anything they serve.

It's not that bad. It was the only bbq place in State College when I was there and it was satisfying enough imo. If you have good bbq around you, it's probably very disappointing but great if you don't

Well, we tried it.

It's better than a McRib, but it's not that good. Sonny's is much better, which isn't great.

Oh well. I can at least say I tried it.

Think they had one in Houma. Lasted a few months.
Also had a Luthers years ago, liked going there.
Don’t know if Big Mike’s ever opened back up, he closed the Houma location because of worker shortage.

Ribs and brisket are fine. Beans suck. They have fried okra which is nice. It's a whole lot of meh

It's a decent enough change of pace from fast food if you are on a road trip. Otherwise just about any non-chain bbq is better.

Love the pulled pork and their spicy BBQ sauce. Creamed spinach was a nice change of pace side. Beans and potato salad were worse than average. Mac and cheese was good, but obviously mass produced.

We went to the one in Shreveport a lot because we had friends that owned it, and it was one of the few places around here that had pulled pork.
