Hi, come on in.

Could I recommend Costera in the place of Barcelona Tapas?

We've already been to and really enjoyed Costera. Trying to branch out a bit with this one. I had a feeling that it would be hard to beat Costera for Spanish food.

Barcelona is good if you are able to appreciate it for what it is - a small, cozy, straightforward, family run restaurant (very similar type place to Jamila's, which you listed).

No it's not nearly as inventive or hip as Costera (which I do like), but it's good at what it does and certainly worth a visit.

Perfect.
I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't walking into a terrible meal. The only other thread on it was from a decade ago.

Wife and I (no pics) really like this place. Been around forever. Food is straightforward and always good.

Very solid place. I've spent a lot of time in BCN and Costera delivers.

I love Barcelona, and Chef Xavier is an amazing guy. Last time we were there they were struggling really bad with staffing issues, so hopefully that got cleared up. Love the garlic soup and garlic shrimp, can take on a vampire when leaving, and the patatas bravas are great. Just two of you may not be enough for the fideau but it’s the best thing there.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city. We don't eat out often anymore but have two friends that go there almost weekly. I love going there with them so we can order a whole bunch of stuff to share. I find it more fun with at least 2 couples just for the sharing aspect. I've never actually been with just my wife but that's more due to not eating out much in general.

Barcelona is not on the same level as Costera but is great for a date night. Great atmosphere and food. Get the lamb pops and the bravas. Cote Sud would be my second choice, on your list.

I ended up giving my significant other the choice between the two and we're actually going with Cote Sud instead.

With that being said, we'll definitely be going to Barcelona in the near future.
Thanks to everyone for their input

It sounds weird, but consider starting with a small pizza. The space was a pizza place before it became a French restaurant, and they inherited the pizza equipment so kept it going. It's a great pizza.
