I pass by it several times a week wishing I could stop in for a double bacon cheeseburger for lunch.

And it just sits there. Not open. Mocking me. And I have to go to the bagel shop instead.

Quite a few burger joints have opened up since Dearman's closed - Freddy's, Mooyah (new location), Five Guys (new location), Burgersmith (new location) and I know more are planned for the West Lee @ Burbank development, including a Burger King.

Yes, a Burger King.

But I will gladly support Dearman's. Reminds me of my childhood days.

It's certainly one of the top burger joints in the city. But I'll say that Fleming's and J Alexanders serve a better burger, even though that is not their primary focus.

They have a great happy hour for bar bites. Easily the best burger in the city. But the place gets packed early.

Service issues? I've been more than a handful of times and service has always been great. What issues?

If only the burgers and fries tasted likely they did from my childhood( 80's early 90s) I've been several times since they closed the drugs store and its just not the same. I miss the fountain coke floats so much.

According to the Save Dearman's page:

quote:

Hooray! Finally have the permits in hand to move forward. Burgers and shakes coming next

Not sure of the opening date but there will be a BIG announcement when it is ready!

These were posted on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

He did a bunch of work and then tried to pull a permit and they made him tear a lot of it out. According to another shop owner in the area.

most of the time if the power is still on you can sneak in a renovation without a permit
unfortunately for restaurants they also need the DHH inspection which you can't get without the permit. the permit office is a burning diaper right now and has been for some time

I do not blame anyone for trying an end run

Looks like they were making pretty good progress on the building. Anyone have an updated ETA?

Fleming's has an excellent burger. Agreed on it being one of the best.

Dearman's burgers were nothing special... they are the Fleur de Lis or Pastime of the BR burger scene.

So do my wife and kids. So, I'll be dragged back as well. It's not like it's inedible, I just prefer others a lot more.

Yep. Burgers are like pizza for me. Even a bad one is good; there are just ones I prefer.

A bad burger is a dry hockey puck of sadness. I genuinely don't understand how people can enjoy bad ones
