Damn you, Trader Joe's, and your demand mongering tactics

I was reading a local free paper the other day, and read an article about Trader Joe's famous Cookie Butter. Apparently this is a delicious "cookie" flavored spread similar in consistency to peanut butter that Joe sells. The catch is, you can only buy one jar a day. How they keep track, I have no idea.
So I went to the nearest TJ's to buy one, and asked the stocker where they were. He led me to the office where they keep the stuff (they aren't allowed to keep it on the shelf), and explained that they get 2 crates a day. One creamy, one crunchy. The creamy Cookie Butter is gone by 10 am every day. They open at 8 so people are basically lining up to get this stuff every day, and I doubt that it's THAT hard to produce. They are just keeping up the demand to keep the buzz going and the people are falling for it hard.
Anyway, he had 2 jars of crunchy left, so I bought one. And it's good, I mean really good. It tastes sort of like ginger bread, and has gritty cookie particles in it similar to slightly overdone sugar cookies. The jar claims it has "crushed biscuits" in it. It has the consistency of natural peanut butter. A very unique taste and I recommend asking for it if you are ever at a TJ's.

Same thing as Biscoff spread and you can get it in creamy or crunchy. TJs may have a tiny bit more gingery spice but not enough to line up in the morning for it. Biscoff spread is pretty awesome and you can get it at Calandra's

This doesn't seem all that difficult to make at home. With a little trial and error, I bet you can nail it, maybe best it.

Dude, this is the exact same shite as Biscoff spread. My Wife is addicted to this shite.
Speculoos are a specific type of cookie, a popular brand of which is Biscoff. If you've ever flown on Delta, you've had them. The "crushed biscuits" they speak of are cookies .. they call 'em biscuits in Europe.
Biscoff brand also makes a sread out of their Speculoos. Only place i ever seen it in B.R. was Calandro's, but it's in all of the stores out here in Atlanta ... Kroger, Publix, Etc ... sells for about $5 a jar.
They had it on the clearance rack at Aldi the other day for 50 CENTS a jar, so i bought all ten.
I'm gonna just stock up on them bastards every time they go on clearance, and next time i go to B.R. ... i'm standing outside Trader Joe's at about ... 10:30?

Biscoff spread is on the shelves at my local WalMart, stocked near the peanut butter. Those who choose to indulge should read the label....it's a refined sugary cookie spread, not really a "food" like nut butters.

You mean I can't eat a whole jar of it for dinner?

They are the kings of creating products I didn't know I couldn't live without until I saw them.

I dunno...the Trader Joe's by my house always seems to have some in stock. I could buy 5-10 if I felt compelled.

I bought a jar at TJ's about 6 months ago or so... Ate less than half of it over a few weeks and haven't opened it since... I wasn't overly impressed, especially with all the hype

What happened to Trader Joes on Acadian in BR? Haven;t heard anything in a while.

Never heard of this. Perhaps I need to visit my local TJ's over the week. I'm curious.

My wife has been asking about it. I've never been to one but she has and is waiting for it to open.
Most recent article I could find
It says they will begin hiring this summer.
How is the construction progressing?

Last time I passed (~2 weeks ago) they were starting to erect walls of the shopping center.

Bought some last night because of this thread. Tastes like someone turned graham crackers into peanut butter spread. Delicious stuff.

Tilt-up walls are up, currently the big iron-work is being done. Well, maybe not today in the rain...

Some trader joes are way better than others. The 2 I've been to we're very different. The one I went to in houston is medium sized. The one in bakersfield, CA was smaller than the bet-r in Baton Rouge. I was thoroughly disappointed after shopping there, considering all the TJ's hype, but the store in houston made me a fan.

I agree totally--have been in TJs in MI, DC and NYC. The DC store was a crowded, smallish madhouse, with more frozen stuff and too many convenience foods, while the Grosse Pointe store was fantastic, huge, well stocked. NYC had stupefying long lines on a random Monday AM.

Just talked to my wife, she's in Houston today so I asked her to stop by Trader Joe's to pick up a jar of Cookie Butter. They sold her two, one of each. SCORE!!!!
