Purging with salt only helps if you use sea salt mined from the Caspian Sea during the fall season when it changes color.

The point is that you don’t have to use salt. Not that you don’t have to clean them

Yeah man you still clean them the same you just don’t need the salt.

I did that for years. Until this gamechanger: LINK

It won me over when I thought I cleaned them good enough using the traditional wash method you described and for grins then put them in the crawfish washer (back when you get it for $50). I was amazed at the extra dirt that clouded the water.

Never went back to the traditional method. Cleaner crawfish means cleaner tasting crawfish where the seasoning can shine.

I’d like to know what the big guys do in order to clean the poop chute. I imagine it’s a huge live well type setup with circulating water.

I don’t care about it personally. I just wash until the water looks like a swimming pool.
