Crawfish burner question

My wife bought me a new crawfish burner because my old one was getting pretty rusty. This new one has a banjo style burner that doesn't seem to put out as much fire as I would like. Look at it i noticed that the air intake valve does not seem to open up all that wide. Can I just take it off or get a new one that opens up more? Where would I find one of these?

You need a jet burner, preferably a double jet burner

Sounds like it.
I've got a set up though with one of those small banjo burners. It'll accomodate and is safe with a 30 psi regulator. That little burner with that regulator will get an 80 quart pot going at about the same time as a double jet burner with a 20 psi regulator.
Incidentally, on the subject of regulators. The guy from king cooker told me on a double jet burner, anything more than 10 psi is overkill and will heat a pot as fast as a 30 psi. I tested this and he was pretty much right.

Your regulator is over-regulating pressure. Take that shite back and get one that is for high presssure.

I had a this one for years.
After about 3 years, every year I would have to take the brass nuts off of the T and the hose of the main tube and use my rifle cleaning rod to get all of the rust from inside the tubes out. Would constantly block the holes on the 2 brass nuts.
I bought a stainless steel double jet 2 years ago.

I bought a 10-30 PSI regulator today at the hardware store. This seems to be a pretty big improvement on my flame.

She got it for me after the season ended last year and I didn't try it until recently. Kinda late to return it.

Same here. Just a needle valve with no issues on the same double jet burner pictured above.

I use a banjo burner all the time now. Retired the single jet. Less noise and takes at most a few minutes longer.
