Are you a cranberry sauce eater/lover?

I have a nephew who when he was a kid would eat just about all the cranberry sauce(canned stuff)that was on the table. He loves it!

So do you like the canned sauce? With or without whole berries? Or, do you only eat made from fresh cranberries sauce?

We have both to accommodate the smooth canned stuff lovers and homemade that I make. My older sister before she passed away love my homemade cranberry sauce. It's good not just on turkey. I've eaten it on vanilla ice cream and even baked in a brie.

Personally I prefer the jellied cranberry sauce on my Thanksgiving Day sandwich and the relish type sauce on the plate.

What say you on this? Whole berries, jellied or homemade?

I'm the only one in the family that likes it. I usually go low-effort and just get the canned stuff. As has been said previously, it's pretty righteous on the sandwiches the next day.

Canned stuff is awful.
I like the sharp and tangy homemade versions.

We open a full can (Jellied sauce) for our youngest (42 yo) son. He will eat the entire can. The rest of us share a can and then we open a third can for leftovers Thanksgiving night.

It is a big deal at our house (cranberry sauce on the dressing or sandwich).

Probably many of you do not remember when they were doing air burst nuclear weapon testing (back whenever) on the pacific islands and in the Nevada desert. They discovered a kick up in the levels of Strontium 90 in the air, water, soil and milk. There were 2 or three years when lots of people didn't eat cranberry sauce because they detected abnormal levels of Strontium 90 in the product. For those several years, Mom made a cherry and strawberry jello mixture that she substituted for our cranberry sauce at home. I just did without those years and was happy once again when they said the levels had dropped back down to acceptable levels.

2-3 years without cranberry sauce - A truly sad historical fact. Probably in Eisenhower Administration, although I could be wrong.

I eat both but prefer homemade. The one we make is pretty simple and has both whole and crushed up berries.

I will eat both canned or homemade. No one else in my family eats it but me. I love it with my meal, but as others said, on a sandwich the next day is money.

I love it. Even good on a turkey burger.

Homemade. Every year, I offer to bring something else and every year the rest of the family just wants me to bring the cranberry sauce because they love it so much.

It's just some random recipe I found on the internet that is basically boiling a couple of bags of cranberries in some OJ with a cinnamon stick. It literally takes me 30 seconds to prepare (i.e. throw into pot) and about a half hour of simmering on Thanksgiving morning while I have some coffee.

I do not disabuse them of the notion that it's some great mystery or difficult task. I've even begun bringing it in disposable Ziploc containers instead of a nice bowl so that's one less thing to worry about and clean. My aim at this point is to maximize my lazy on Thanksgiving.

I like it but I won't eat too much of it. I like to take some with a fork full of Turkey and dressing.

canned stuff

Pro tip. If you cut the top and bottom off of the can, it'll slide right outta that can with the little ridges intact.

Not a big fan. When I do eat a little it's fresh whole berry stuff.

Instead of cranberry sauce with the meal...I much prefer a scoop of hot pepper jelly or fig preserves.

Several years ago I added sweet jalapeno relish to the homade cranberry sauce I make and it was awesome! Well, to me and probably anyone else that likes jalapenos but it was spicy delicious.
