Yep. I've been there twice in the past few months and drank a few pours but no way was I buying a $30 bottle of whatever they had.

a place like that would almost assuredly have to be a brewpub

JK is licensed as a brewpub.

JK didn't do themselves any favors by jacking up prices. I'm a JK fanboy, but they priced me right out of their market.

Yeah, I just don't like those styles well enough to spend that kind of money on them.

A quick glance at their menu shows their cheapest bottle of beer at $13 for 750ml. They also have a $35 bottle and a $48 crowler. What's the over/under for number of page thread bashing Parish if they tried to sell a $48 crowler?

Yeesh. I may do this once, for like Atrial, because i never had it before, or Spon, just to try it again, because i forgot how it tastes, but yeah I would be priced out of that market quickly too.

That's probably la Petite prince, which is a fantastic mixed ferm beer, IMO. That and Saison Americaine are my favorite 2 JK's that i've had.

To be fair, Parish ain't making mixed ferm long aged, blended, barrel conditioned sours. Parish is pricing IPA's like that.

But i do agree that some sours stay on the shelves due to pricing. Calandro's still has a huge drop of Crooked Stave sours for $20-30, and there they will sit. No one wants to pay those prices. Same for Cascade sours (though i dont care for them nearly as much) that have been on the shelves for 3 years at $25/bottle.

I grab a Lindeman's Cuvee' Renee, 12 oz. for $7.99, or a NOLA Sauvage 500 mL for $12.99, or a 750 ml Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza for $11.99 when i see it, and am perfectly happy drinking those three.

Me either. I don't like them enough to spend even close to JK prices.

I paid $50-60 for Cantillon Fou Foune once. I never had it, was able to get it, and couldn't pass up the opportunity. It was good, but i wouldn't do that again. I prefer Cantillon Classic Geueze, which "should be" much cheaper, but still impossible to find in the US. Used to be able to find that stuff on the shelves years ago, before they blew up with worlwide recognition.

This is to you and Bmoney, but what is it about them that y'all don't like? Reason i ask, is that there are plenty of sour beer makers that make mixed ferms, but the acidity is so overboard, that they are hard to drink (Cascade for example, or some of my early mixed ferm homebrew attepts). If that's the case, i'd recommend the 3 i mentioned earlier, Lindemans Geueze, Nola Suavage, and Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza. All reasonably priced with restrained acidity, and some wonderful funky/fruity notes.

ETA: never mind, I see you already did

I guess I'm still just bummed about it. I was still hoping it would come back after covid . Can't blame the guy

I just don't really care for many sour beers.

I've tried all of those and would drink them again... but I'd really rather spend my money on hops these days.

The price tag.

About twice a year I buy a Tilquin Geueze or a Drie Fonteinen Oude Gueze. I enjoy them, but not enough to spend that kind of money on those beers very often. Certainly not enough that to support a brewery like that around here.
