Costco has their system down pat

Went to Costco and got there around 3 and the line was across the entire storefront to the loading bays at the far end. They have the entire area tented to keep customers out of the direct sun, taped lines to designate a safe "social distancing" and the line moved faster than I could have imagined. When you get near the entrance, they have sanitized carts waiting for customers and as a customer leaves, you enter.
I was walking in the store in less than 15 after arriving. Got the shopping done and headed to the checkout and they no longer unload the carts but scan items in the carts, no contact with customers cards of driver's licenses if alcohol is bought, and it was.
I always pay with debit card, so no cash exchanged hands. I was in and out in about 1/2 hour and heading home.

Our Sam’s (Shreveport) has made these same changes. I use the Scan & Go feature so I skip the lines- I’m not sure why they don’t encourage this more often .

That’s good to hear.
Not food related, but Academy is a cluster f k with how they are handling things over the last week

How so? I wanted to head out there this week, but if it's a mess to deal with, I think I'll pass until after this is over.

They started allowing maybe 15 people in the store and out everyone else on a wait outside.
Last week there were probably 20 waiting to get in.
Yesterday there were 30 or more. I did curbside pick up and kind of felt guilty.

Only 15 in a store that size is ridiculous. They could easily accommodate 50+ and have them at a safe distance, and then some.
Yeah, I think I'll wait of just pop over to Puglia's Sporting Goods on Veterans Hwy. and they can have my business for the time being.
Thanks for the info.

Costco is the second greatest company on the planet after amazon

Costco is the chic-fil-a of the grocery store industry.

Tried to go to Costco last Sunday....stupidly long line that wrapped around three sides of the building. No tents or shade, though everyone was 6’ apart. I said eff this and drove to the Kenner Sams.
Sams was limiting the number of people in the store, but it wasn’t crowded, so I walked right in. Employees were sanitizing the buggy handles.
But Sams has the distinct and profound advantage of the Scan n Go app: you scan the barcode of each item as you put it into the basket. When you’re done, you check out through the app and show the QR code receipt at the exit. Thus, it is completely contactless. And, Sams still offers the preorder and pickup option.
If Costco had a scan and payment app and a preorder/pickup option, it would eliminate much of the checkout mess, esp on weekends.

This is past the point of ridiculous. Waiting in a fricking line to get into a store.

15 minutes in line is still too long for me. I do miss their meat department a bit though.

My Dad told me about this, makes no sense to only allow 15 people in a store that big

My local Costco has been doing this for at least the last two weeks. The best thing about this virus is the lack of families and old people clogging up the store.
Also, can they get some smaller carts? That creates as much of a traffic problem as the clueless shoppers.
ETA: Scored some of the best hamburger meat I have ever bought last Thursday @ $3.29/ lb. Store was completely out and I heard the store manager tell the butcher to grind up whatever they had. Butcher (who I have talked to a few times before) told me to stick around. All they had left to grind up was prime ribeye amd sirloin. I bought the biggest pack they had (7.32 lbs). Lol

I agree with the tech. It’;s stupid easy to scan and get the hell out of there
Costco though, has much more items I desire to bring back to our home.

Agree, on balance, that Costco has better groceries. But in the present environment, it’s way easier to get a good enough cheddar and almost the right kind of green juice at Sams rather than deal with the waiting in line plus checkout lines at Costco for the specific things I’d be getting there. Maybe in a month I’ll be willing to deal with Costco, but for now, Sams is good enough. Big bags of apples, rice, and potatoes are the same at both stores.

On that note
We had zero issues getting in, and out of, a certain Grocery store in Metry.
And fully stocked.

I believe it is all First Responders, law enforcement, hospital workers, etc. that are given that option.
My brother-in-law is with La. State Probation & Parole and he has that option, but since he's home on furlough (past retirement age and still working) right now, he chooses to wait in line when he goes.

They must. Our Instacart deliverer got to the house pretty quickly after our order was placed.
