Cook's Country Goes to the Big Easy

Part one was a shrimp poboy, which was OK but they kind of dismissed the value of the correct bread.
Part two was a judging of mail order king cakes. Gambino's won for their traditional (brioche) King Cake.
#2 was Poupart's Bakery. (never heard of them)
#3 was Rouse's.
Part 3 was Chicken Sauce Piquant. It was an adequate recipe, but not like what this board would cook.

Well to be fair they discussed it and told you what to look for since they know 99% of the viewers aren’t getting Gendusa’s or Leidenheimer. And yeah Pouparts is a bakery out of Lafayette. They do pretty good bread too.
I did get a good chuckle when they flipped the card for Rouses. Hope they didn’t order any pork from them.

BTW, I saw an offer for Kimball's Milk Street for $1 for both print and digital, so I think his days are numbered.

Those gals have put on some weight. Julia’s husband is a fish monger-I’ve seen him a few times and he knows his shite.
And YouTube the CBS Sunday Morning on their new place in Boston. It’s frikkin nice.
And I’m liking Kimballs better now so I hope he does well. He’s really doing a lot of Asian and Mediterranean wlhlich I like.

Milk Street doesn't do much food I'd ever cook.
It's mostly foreign food I'm not really that interested in.

Well he knew he couldn’t just do a remake of America’s Test Kitchen so he went a different route. At first I wasn’t sure if I would like it but it’s grown on me.

Poupart’s is a terrific French bakery in Lafayette. I love it.

Just had a King Cake from Rouses. I get a few every year for my staff. I have to say they have upped their King Cake game big time. It’s super moist and delicious. I’m impressed.

He basically just stood there while they did the talking anyway.

I like the Asian/African/Mediterranean stuff as well. Much more interesting. Kimball is a wuss however when it comes to pepper heat. He winces at just the mention on jalapeno or red chilies. How can you do Asian or African without some chilies?
