There’s a decent amount of Gamecocks fans on here so I thought I’ll ask. I’ll be attending a work conference in Columbia in a couple weeks and dinner will be on our own throughout the week. What are some decent hole in the wall to try out? My hotel is in Lexington but I don’t mind venturing out.

Pawleys Front Porch is the definition of hole in the wall.
Motor Supply Company Bistro is not but it is worth a visit.

I don’t really have a good recc here. Have enjoyed bbq from Maurice’s.
Not what you asked for, but I really like Bourbon in downtown Columbia. Have had several very good meals there.
Nothing in Lexington proper that I’m aware but would love to be proven wrong by the board.

Palmetto Pig is some of the best fried chicken you will ever have.

They have a Hall’s which I assume is very good.

Hall's is indeed good but a bit formulaic sometimes. If you were to refer to it as the Ruths Chris of South Carolina, would you be wrong?
Also their first restaurant outside of SC is in Nashville which is so cliche. (A) there is a great steakhouse in Nashville called Sperrys, (B) Nashville is super lame manufactured fun. Garth Brooks doesn't actually hang out at the bar with his name on it any more than Payton Manning drives a Buick Le Sabre.

I know of plenty good ones an hour and a half away in Charleston.
