Yeah your running too long. Either your grinds off or you are tampering on the higher side

It was the grind. I dialed it back a tad bit and it made a huge difference

French Press only
I buy freshly roasted beans from Flambeaux or Abita Roasting in Mandeville/Madisonville. I try to only buy beans that have been roasted that week.
I have them ground the day I purchase.
I usually buy Italian roast or another dark roast.

One tip is how to leverage the strength of the dollar to save a couple hundred bucks. You can order some of the good stuff from a retailer in Italy, EspressoCoffeeShop.com. I think that makes the stuff grey market in the US, so I wouldn’t order an espresso machine from them, but I just ordered a Eureka Specialita. Even with shipping it was about $180 below the cost of any domestic retailer. I’ll let you know when it comes in if it was a legit deal.
Ordered it on January 31, and it was shipped from Italy to my door, delivered Monday, February 5. No hitches or glitches at all. Grinder, once dialed in, works great, is very quiet and super easy to use.

Now i am on the hunt for a replacement but whole beans are so hard to find locally
Do you live in the middle of no where? Most cities have tons of local shops that sell their beans produced in house. I know BR, NOLA, Laffy, Shreveport all have good local shops that sell their beans

What did you order and from what site?

It's all in the posts. There's even a link to the seller in an earlier post.

Fresh coffee roast.com done fricked up already. Supposed to be here Monday and I still haven’t received my order. They used the postal service which is a huge mistake.

Well, Breville dual boiler scheduled to be delivered on Friday.
Been playing with my DF64 Gen 2 and an aeropress. Using 2wk old River Road Acadian beans. I’m about 8 attempts in and have yet to produce a drinkable cup lol.

The real snobs look down on any appliance brand, but I’ve seen a lot of positive comment and reviews about this particular Breville. They say it’s more capable than anything at or near its price point. Looking forward to hearing about it.

Yeah I read the same. Pre-infusion, OPV, programmable wake time, 2 programmable volume control shots, and of course two boilers. Looking forward to figuring it out!

I received the new beans today. On my darker medium roast I have my grinder dialed in to about 15.5. I got a lighter medium roast Haitian beans today. I had to dial it in at 20 (coarser) in order to get it flowing. I thought lighter beans required a finer grind?

Yeah they made a change to their shipping maybe 6 months ago and it got notably worst. I used to get my beans within 3 days of ordering max.

This is a Reddit link to a facebook group that has figured out how to easily add a $15 OPV to the Legato. I don’t have Facebook. Maybe you could give it a look if you have FB.

Think I’ll wait until Espresso Outlet offers an OPV kit and confirms it won’t void the warranty.
That FB group is a black hole though man, I need to dial in regular shots on the stock machine before I get carried away with some of things they suggest in the group
. You should make a dummy FB, it’s good info.

2 programmable volume control shots
I don't think I've ever used the programmable buttons on my breville for a programmed shot

Yeah, I’m going by volume and not time.

Pulled a shot of this earlier. I need to go a little more coarse but it was close. Shot was really good. Lots of chocolate.

All Starbucks taste burnt to me.
Same here for me. I've only had their coffee 3 times thinking it was a fluke, but got nasty coffee every time.

For anyone interested, here is a link to Lance Hendricks normal 9 bar shot workflow. Per his disclaimer, this is not a beginners tutorial to espresso, just how he pulls a shot per his own preferences. Interesting stuff. Also, for anyone unaware, WDT is out and blind shaking is in
