It is "expensive" but commensurate with upscale dining prices. There are certainly much more expensive restaurants even in New Orleans.

Are there any couples that go out and each order their own appetizer, their own salad, their own entree each, split a dessert, and get multiple drinks?

That seems wild unless its a specifically multicourse tasting type of thing.

We definitely don't do that, but if we did, I would 100% expect to spend $200+, even at somewhere not as "upscale" as Clancy's.

This definitely happens, mostly for an anniversary or birthday dinner a few times a year, but not on a normal night out.

What is that “wild” about that?

Maybe wild if you’re ordering an onion mum and potato skins as appetizers. Otherwise most normal apps are a few bites each. Can’t think of a time I only ordered one. I’m not one for a salad or dessert when I’m out but that seems pretty normal. What exactly is the problem?

We might split an app. Entree each and likely 2 rounds of drinks. Dessert maybe once a year if it’s something special, the dessert not the occasion. Neither of us have a sweet tooth and would rather another drink instead.

we usually split a salad and share two entrees and sometimes split dessert. Or two apps, one salad and one entree

honestly I’m full if I eat a whole app and a whole salad

'm assuming it's been quite some time since you've eaten at any sort of upscale restaurant, their pricing seems pretty standard.

Yeah, it's been quite a while since the wife and I dined out at anything more than your typical N.O. neighborhood eatery.

Truth is, I do all but about 5% of the cooking at home and I've become quite the cook over the years, so eating at restaurants is about a 4-5 times a year thing for us.

I think the last nice restaurant we went to was Ruth's Chris a couple years ago when the wife got a gift card for $100 from a client she helped at her work.

Most of the time it's neighborhood places like Mona's, Juan's, Katie's, Venezia, etc. Oh, and the must do at Rocky & Carlos when we are in Da Parish.

I’m there at least once a week. Oysters with Brie, Boston Salad and the daily seafood special with an old fashioned (or two) are my usuals. However, don’t sleep on the chicken dish - it is outstanding.

You sound like my dad who still thinks you can still find a solid brand new car for under $10K
