My Rouses ad is $2.99. Costco has been selling prime brisket for $3 for a year now. So I won't be stopping on my way home. But $2/lbs, and I would've bought 2 and cooked one tomorrow.

ok, got 9 lb 13 oz of prime ground meat and 8 lbs of fat rendering down in the oven. The wife took the 13 ozs with stuff and made Stromboli's for supper. that brings the cost of the meat up but for prime ground brisket still reasonable

I rendered down the trimmings in a black iron n pot in a slow oven around 230F took a while and I did not fry the trimmings all the way down got over a quart of beautiful Texas butter from them, cant wait to use some and see.

I did the same for the last brisket I bought but threw away all the trimmings off the one I trimmed yesterday.

I already have over a quart jar of that rendered fat from the last one in my fridge and have used some to make a nice roux for a brown gravy the last time I cooked beef to make a brown gravy. It gives it an immediate beef flavor in the roux using beef fat and flour.
