Chimes East sucks arse

As soon as my food was delivered the waitress wanted me to close out because of shift change. I do and then she spends the next ten minutes asking me if I need a go cup, go box and hovering for my tip and I'm still eating.
This to go along with all the GD flies landing in my food. This place has gone to shite. Will not be back

I've never cared for that location. To me Chimes cannot be duplicated. It's all about the atmosphere for me.

I've always said that The Chimes, as well as Sammy's, are overrated. But they're board favorites, and people love 'em, so we're in the minority.

Sammys is overrated. That food doesnt deserve 1 hour plus waits all the time.
Chimes I dont think is overrated. There is nothing on their menu that they dont do well. Great oyster and happy hour, good gumbo, red beans, burger, and salad dressings, best wings in the city, best beer list in the city for a restaurant, and a good atmosphere.

You've got to remember that many of us went to LSU, and Chimes and Sammys just hold a special spot for us.

TJ Ribs sucks. Just having to be in there disqualifies them as best wings in the city.

The only issue that I had with that place is this douchebag regular who apparently sits at the top of the bar. I was enjoying a beer and some oysters. He walks in for the first time that evening and informs me that I'm in his seat.

Can anyone confirm that Chimes East now has an automatic 18% gratuity after 9pm? I've heard that from someone who may or may not be bullshitting me. I wouldn't blame them though.

I love Chimes and chimes east. Sounds like you just had a single bad experience. I'd say give it another shot. It's pretty consistently great imo.

Interesting. I cannot confirm or deny that but we get gratted on a 6top every time.

I sat at the oyster bar, drank Jucifer and watched LSU win that first Oregon State game with a big flat screen 3 feet from my face. Had a dozen oysters and enjoyed the hell out of that afternoon just last Friday.

Given the issues with other restaurants in the area like Willie's, I wouldn't be surprised if that's included all day.

I know people don't like the Chimes, but I'll never really understand it. Food's good, one of the best beer selections in town. I've had way more good experiences there than not. Went last week for some Jucifer/Opus, gumbo, and oysters...dug it all just fine.

Chimes went through a period... maybe 5-6-7 years ago, where quality went way downhill on both food and beer selection. They have since course-corrected back to where they were before, and the beer selection has increased significantly.
There was a period there though that I really thought Chimes was a sinking ship. Capped off by the time I ordered some cheese fries (at Chimes original) and got a plate of the McD's sized fries with two squares of cheddar cheese melted on top.
