I still remember significant time spent with both my grandmothers while my mama worked. Good for you to be able to play such an important role for your family.

My opinion on the challenges should be discounted as I’ve never submitted a dish and usually don’t vote. But I read everyone. I would think there is a lot of flexibility on timing and that people should be happy to work around your schedule.

Congrats on the new grandbaby!

I vote option 2, for all the reasons others have posted.

You have done such a good job with the Challenges, everyone will certainly cut you some slack, given your new schedule.

The question is, do you really want to let it go? It's part of your identity here, and I think continuing on your new schedule would provide you the break you need from time to time, especially since this is something you care so much about.

Thank you for all that you do.

Well, the consensus seems to be that y’all will be okay with a less structured schedule with the challenge threads and voting. And y’all said some really nice things! The August brisket challenge will be business as usual, but the challenge after that will start the changes.

For those who mentioned my new role as grandmother and my new granddaughter, thanks! I am SO excited to be able to take care of her, and hopefully form that special bond that dirtsandwich mentioned. I’m late to grandparenthood and want to fully enjoy it. I’m lucky to be retired so that I can.

Thanks, everybody!

ETA: Thanks, LL and HC for your generous offers of help. I’ll reach out if I see I’m in need.

I lean towards option 2 as well Darla
these challenges were meant to be fun and try new things cooking ideas
Hopefully never turn into any type of work and if it did then it’s time for a break but I say
Do it at your convenience, we’ll help ya figure it out

This! As others said Opt 2 is good to go with me! I have had some changes in work life that is gobbled up more time than it already was so I haven't been involved in much. I expect it to change one day so I can get some more relaxing time in

Congrats as well

See how it goes, Darla. Rearrange whatever needs to be rearranged here. Maybe folks can help at different times if need be. My schedule isn't always consistent, but if I can do something at the time, I'm happy to.

Your grandmother "duties" come first! I remember walking to my paternal grandmother's every day after school in elementary school and staying there until my Daddy picked me up after work. I spent weekends at my maternal grandmother's. Lots of special memories and you'll be making plenty of them!
