I frequent the CM on Westheimer/Weslayan for lunch. great sandwiches for sure, and as you can see, the portions are monstrous.

For lunch, you won't find a better bang for your buck. Sorry you're missing out!

You can also order cold craft beer for 1.99 each. They have a better selection than anywhere you can eat in NOLA minus the pub.

Olive Garden is the same price and comes with endless salad and breadsticks.

I was exaggerating to make a point. But at 6.49 plus no additional money for tip which is hard to find these days, it's most certainly the best bang for your buck.

Don't get me wrong, I'm with you entirely. I love some CM for sure. I used to live in the apts right behind CM and our parking lot had a cut through gate to CM. I loved getting a "6 inch" and saving half of it for lunch the next day. Great deal.

Publix is dogshit compared to Central Market.

I feel sorry for people who don't have access to HEB and/or Central Market.

I live about 1/4 mile from the one on westheimer. Their deli, bread, and cheese selection is awesome. Typically get the lamb roast mid rare for sandwiches at the house. Rosemary, kosher salt, and pepper sliced super thin with horseradish and Dijon mustard on their in house sandwich bread. Also have a brand of chips called pipers there. The spicy tomato is what Zappa craw taters should taste like every time, and it's a bunch if Brits making them lol.

I wish Louisiana would get that or an HEB.

One of the few things I miss about Houston is HEB/CM.

However, it pisses me off to no end that the HEB brass can say they don't want to build stores in any other US state besides Texas, but, they have stores in Mexico.

There's nothing wrong with going to CM to grab a sandwich and beer then go eat outside and watch all the yoga pants wearing hotties walk by.

The beer guys there are great too.

ETA - I'd go with Local Foods as best sandwich in Houston. I really like Papa Mo's too. It's close by my house so it gets bonus points.

Same here. I used to leave the safety of the loop just to go to the HEB on Bunker Hill.

Not your sandwich Yankee, I miss the grocery stores. I would love the HEB on Bunker Hill to be my neighborhood grocery.
