Cast Iron Pot Size

I'm trying to determine the quart size of this dutch oven. It has a 12 on it; does that mean it's 12q? Internet searches aren't proving very helpful so far. See below

Fill it with quarts of water until full and you'll know how many quarts it holds.

It might mean 12qt. It might mean 12". It might mean Size 12 which could be neither 12" nor 12qt. Different manufacturers used all different kinds of marks.

Measure the side for height. Then multiply that time 1.5
If the sides are 8" Xs 1.5 = 12
Voila

Yep, use water to find out. Sometimes you get a #20 but it’s a 15 gallon. The sure way of knowing is to measure it with water.

Well, we all know it takes common sense to figure that out.

Didn't hurt for the OP to ask. Someone here may have known more about that pot enabling him to avoid having to do the liquid measurement. As Jor pointed out, the 12 could mean several things.

It's a lodge #12 dutch oven. The 12 does not mean it's a 12qt (although it may happen to correlate in some circumstances, the notations on lodge are the diameter size). #8 is about 10.5", #10 is ~12", #12 is ~14".
Depending on side heights, it could be anywhere from 6-9qt I believe.
That one looks nearly identical to the 9qt in this ebay listing:
