I did

It's a joke. Relax. Obviously I don't wish you to commit some painful form of suicide for not liking cake that isn't cooked by your mom.

I would love to find a good carrot cake...I just have never found one.

Best I've found outside of my mom's is Laurel St. Bakery.

ETA: Those ones they sell in some gas stations that are like 2"x2" squares actually arent bad either - better than most other places I've had it.

Really? I picked one up at a drugstore one day and I thought it was terrible.

I think the plastic wrapping may have tainted the taste. Might have melted on the way to work or something. fricking LA summers...

Well they aren't dry. The icing could use some work though.

My complaint is usually that the ice cream is too sweet and not creamy enough when it comes to carrot cake. And I'm not really a big fan of the people that think you need to do have some huge embossed orange glob of icing to look like a carrot to decorate the cake.

ETA: Icing, not ice cream

A creole cream ice cream with the inherent acidity within would be a perfect complement.

Again... out of the park. Typical.

I know. That's how I had it when I went to Cafe Dominique

It was amazing.

I'll check it out next time I'm there

Do they sell single servings or do you have to get a whole cake?

I love carrot cake. Go to portobello's. Seriously. It's moist, can actually see bits of carrot, with a warm cream cheese icing.
