My dad uses a recipe from the Times Picayune years ago. Best I have ever had.

I just really like carrot cake I guess

Of course the last 2 restaurants I had it in were Cafe Dominique in Houma and Coquette so that might be heavily influencing my experiences with it.

I've had some sub par ones from bakeries but really...most bakery cakes taste like shite.

I mean your run of the mill birthday cakes with generic icing and batter

I like stuff like German Chocolate cake, carrot cake, etc. from most bakeries

I just don't get the appeal of the stuff that is all sugar with no other flavor components

That stuff is for the kids. I don't think many adults actually enjoy that either.

When I think of bakeries, I don't really think of Winn-Dixie either. I think of stand alone bakeries.

Yeah same here

Not that I go to bakeries often or anything

I usually just go if it's a birthday for someone I'm close to and then I get them a cake that I like and don't bother considering their preferences. (ok not quite)
