Can you season your oil too when you fry a turkey?

This is my last use for this oil.

I’ve used it a few times and frankly, it’s already seasoned.

I’ve injected the bird.

But can you salt and season the frying oil?

you "CAN" but I wouldn't. Salt does not dissolve in oil so you'll end up with salt sitting at the bottom of the pot which could cause pitting (corrosion).

You could infuse the oil with herbs, spices, and aromatics but I don't think you'll notice a discernable enough difference. To me it's a waste of time and resources.

Coconut shrimp ruins frying oil IMHO. That's what I would do before I tossed it.

Have you ever seen anyone fry choupique? Turns the oil black .

I would think just about anything used to season the oil would burn and get bitter tasting long before you were done cooking whatever it is you plan to cook.

Put a peeled onion in it, it's "supposed" to keep the oil from burning and I can taste the onion is it when I fry. Smells awesome too and pull it before it burns for a snack.

I fry bacon in the oil before frying the turkey every year.
Frank Davis did that and if it's good enough for him it's good enough for me

smoke point of lard is 370ish. Smoke point of peanut oil is 440ish. All you are doing is (slightly) lowering the smoke point of your cooking oil.

nothing wrong with deep fried bacon though LOL

And making the earl taste more better. I do two turkeys and the second one is always better after the oil is “seasoned.”

yes you could, but its not like when you boil stuff, so i doubt it adds much flavor by seasoning the oil.
