Does anyone have the latest update on the lettuce crisis? Is it safe to eat now?

I think it’s all a bunch of BS personally. I’m a restaurant chef/owner in NOLA and I had to sub Bibb lettuce for our salad with romaine. I had a case and a half I couldn’t serve. I took a lot home and had salads galore the past week. I’m pretty confident our lettuce didn’t have ecoli. This whole things is very odd as there are rarely food warnings similar to this where all romaine no matter where produced should thrown out?!?
Usually food borne illness outbreaks are narrowned down to a supplier or farm. When I ordered iceberg lettuce today for the week it was double the usual price. Something is off, odd, with this whole situation.
I understand people got sick and some died from ecoli. I think the CDC has no idea where it came from.

I've heard that the produce industry agreed to label and date where it was packaged from here on so things like this can be isolated.
I also read that the warning has been rescinded. Not going to waste time doing research, but it seems like it's always the packaged salads and greens this happens with.

It's just romaine, right? I eat iceberg lettuce everyday.

This really has been a bizarre situation. I don't think I have ever seen a blanket recall like this (at least not one I remember of the top of my head).
As you stated, usually, they narrow it down to a farm or brand.
Trump must have loaded up on iceberg futures.

Last I saw stated it's safe to eat if not a product of Central California.
I grow most of my own lettuces in several varieties of loose leaf types and that usually fills the bill, but I do love a good Caesar's Salad every now and then and only Romaine is used when I make it.

I burned my lettuce and other salad ingredients, all that's left are the chard romaines.
