How do you like Sunset? I was up there a few weeks ago. Seems like a nice little town.

Last year my wife and I with other couple spent ~$550 one evening. Four bottles of wine and Old Fashion for nite caps. Worth every penny. We go quite often.
the place is very expensive but so far the service has been great and food very good also. The pricing is vegas level though.

Not one picture posted of food yet looks that great.

It might not be the food’s fault.

I have an updated spectacles prescription.
Maybe you’re just calling me an a-hole.
Nope, the food just doesn’t look that good.
I guess it could be the camera. Though the camera detail is good enough to see uncooked kraft pre-grated “parmesan” cheese on the oysters. Major fail there.

Lighten up. I just meant maybe the lighting, the angle, whatever, is making the food look less than stellar to you. I was poking fun at the photography, not you.

I know, just poking back. I edited after cuz I knew you were kidding.

It agrees with me. I needed a change from Nola life and found what I was looking for job wise, so this should do for a while.

My SIL and 2 other good friends live in Sunset. It's always been quiet and laid back. The Herb Fest is pretty cool and there are several businesses/galleries that promote local art work. FYI - DON'T speed as 1 of the 3 town PO's will surely write you a ticket !
Sunset was famous for it's legal & illegal cockfighting. The "Sunset Recreation Club" was arguably the best known venue that drew gamblers/spectators from all over the Country. Crazy money was wagered on the roosters. LA was the last State to outlaw cockfighting in 2007. People in rural South LA still raise roosters and the gambling still occurs.

Heading there tonight for my kid's 17th birthday. Looking forward to it. I think I want the cap.

I had the ribeye cap last time we went and it was very very good. My wife had tuna and we shared charbroiled oysters and all were excellent.
Also saw Dustin Poirier and his wife eating. That was kind of cool.

We had a great time. One one dish was declared meh, and it's something I would never order anyway, so I did not care. My 17 year old got beef tongue and I was very proud of him for branching out. Was glad to see Woodford Double Oaked as a choice. The cap was fantastic.

Good to hear, it's probably my favorite of that type of restaurant.

What do mean by this? I have been toying with the idea of driving out there.

I'm guessing it was so tender your son could probably cut it with a spoon

Can't go wrong at Josephine. Probably our favorite restaurant. Even their Hamburger steak is fantastic. They grind up a ribeye and make a patty. Legit.

I don't know the specific word for the type place. I guess it's probably considered a Cajun seafood/steakhouse. It reminds me a lot of places like Dupuy's, Riverfront, Shucks, and Don's. It is more expensive than those places, but has a similar type of food, and they serve prime steaks.
