Bushwood BBQ Review

went 2 nights ago to try out the joint, very very odd layout of the place.
sauces, some are very odd, i enjoyed 2 of them
anyways, to cut a long story short, one person in our party had a fried mosquito mixed in with his fries, brought it up to the counter and told them, they said they would credit his card and never did.
doubt we'll be going back, the beans were excellent IMO, but everything else was mediocre, i cant see how you are a BBQ sandwich place yet you use a generic store bought bun, much improvement is needed.

I went last week and got the sampler sandwich thing. The brisket was a little tough, and they put pork and brisket on the sandwich. The chicken was a little tough. The pork was great though. A nice variety of sauces. Some were good, some weren't. The beans and slaw were solid though. I would give it another shot. Prices seemed pretty good too. The bin was fine for me though. It's BBQ so I don't except anything other than a typical white bun. I don't believe I have ever been a place that serves anything different.

I went to Bushwood the other day and had the pulled pork sandwich and it was very good and moist. I had the baked beans as my side and they were really good. The staff was very friendly and the manager came and spoke to me for a little while. I will go back and try the other sandwiches!

While unfortunate, this happens. I doubt it was deliberate. I've been twice and can't complain. Tried the brisket sammich and the pulled pork sammich. Both were as good if not better than any other bbq place in the Red Stick, and the prices were even better. Man up and eat the damn mosquito!

Some times giving credit back takes a little while to show up. I know that I've returned charges to a customer and they were pissed because it wasn't instantly on they're account.
I've been to BW 3 times and this place can't be beat. The prices alone are worth going there. Quick, Hot BBQ sandwhich all prepared onsite.
I never order fries so I can't tell you anything but every thing else is great.

very seriously doubt this is true
No they did the same thing to me. I had one slice of brisket and the rest was pork. They claimed brisket...it was not.

Was this a side dish or a combo, and was there an extra charge.

This could be on you. The brisket is a complicated piece of meat. Most restaurants only cook one of the muscles of the brisket, ala TJ's. Same thing when you get a Sams precooked brisket or cook one yourself. A lot of times you only get the "flat and not the "point". The flat is the pretty sliced meat. The point is usually chopped or pulled and looks like pulled pork. So they might be right...

I would think if you are making convenient BBQ sandwiches, wouldnt you want a place with drive through? get in an old fast food place, people can drive through and get sandwiches.

I heard one say there is a 9000# smoker in the back of the building. And they are looking for a second location.I'd put the smoker smack in front, but that's probably a risky place to have it.

I know how and have cooked an entire brisket. The two meats had different consistencies. Trust me they messed up.

I'm not getting the hate for this place...then again pulled pork is probably my favorite meal. And this place does the pulled pork sandwich well, especially for the price, just $5. The baked beans were good and the fries are better than any you'd get at any burger joint. They have a mustard based sauce, a vinegar based sauce, and a spicey sauce that are all more than respectable. I'll definitely be going back to try the sandwich that has brisket grillades and cheese grits.

I have been 4-5 times in the past 6 months. When they first opened up to a few days ago. I get the sampler everytime and have tried every side that they have. The brisket that I had recently was about the best I have ever had. All the hate over a mosquito baffles me. Who orders fries at a BBQ resturant anyway. Definately recommend this to anyone I know for BBQ in BR.
