Anyone been since they officially opened? Looked at some initial reviews on Google and Yelp and they are not very good at all.
Wondering if I should wait a few months

We went on opening day, a few hours after they opened and were seated at a table that had visible sticky spots on them. And these spots weren’t from that day because they had acquired that grey color to them when sticky stuff is left on a surface and dirt is allowed to collect.
The food was ok. The menu was not impressive. A few appetizers, burgers, and some salads. I had the Graceland burger, which was interesting and adequate, but wasn’t anything I would go back for.
Mr. TheBaw has the brisket tacos, which he said were good. We shared some sort of tuna wonton appetizer, which was ok also, but overpriced.
I won’t be rushing back here. It’s the same chef that worked at The Pelican House, if that tells you anything.

Had it day 2 and I won’t go out of my way to visit again. Ordered the classic burger and the pork bahn mi burger and nachos. Bahn mIn was the chef recommendation and was not good. The entire experience wasn’t good. 2 burgers, order fries, and nachos took 32 minutes to come out at 1:45 in the afternoon.

I wouldn't tell anyone that I was associated with the pelican house.....and that is a shame it's a great name for a resturant and outdoor bar and the location had great potential but it was never managed properly and the food was awful even on a good day....
If I was a chef I would not put on my resume that I ever worked there...

I'm just amazed that at least two people agreed to this name.

Which one of you worthless fricks down-voted one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces to come out of the 1980s?

Do you time every restaurant you go to?

Agree. The food was horrible. It sounded great on the menu, but it was disgusting on the plate. I’m not sure if Phil has advertised that he used to be the head chef at Pelican House or if it was on his resume, though.

Ha, no I don’t. I texted the 3rd person in our group right after we ordered so I had the time stamp. Once it was noticed how long it was taking I just checked the text

This board is dead to me. DEAD.

Calling someone a “chef” who makes burgers and nachos for a living is a bit of a stretch.

Is that rooftop patio shaded at all? Otherwise it’ll be like having a burger on the surface of the Sun

It was a nice day and was still way too hot to just sit up there. No shade in most areas

Ouch!! I have been waiting on the bumsteers thread to pop up. So far I’m getting the feeling to stick with curbside... I like Phil and my cuz works there who is def. going to see the thread. This will be interesting if he decides to comment

It just opened. I'd give it some time.

My cuz wanted to call out the merchant so he should join the thread. I love curbside and the classic burger. He called out the merchant recently and should step in to explain the negative reviews

I've always called out the Merchant for the over-priced ,mediocre, trying to seem niche food it is.
I found out something about it I didn't know until the other day when employees of the place who are helping us open informed me of their methods.
Also, please, everyone on this board who understands what it takes to open a restaurant, you chime in.
And at 1:45 that day, we had a full restaurant with an hour wait.
35 minutes was not a bad ticket time.
