very recently replaced Peto’s with In-Law’s in Iowa.

Guess I’m going to have to try that spot out. I always stop at Peto’s for their smoked sausage. Boudin is very meh, though. Better to stop in Scott or Duson for that.

Fried ribs. Thank me later. They stopped smoking them they had so much success. For Christmas I bought 10lbs for our office staff party and they lasted about 45 minutes.

This is pretty much my rotation. Leave NOLA, stop at Billy's, get cracklin and boudin balls, pee, soft drinks, etc. Top off the tank at gas station nearby.

Leave Katy/Houston, Buc-ees, pee (but not really have to go that much, obviously), jerky, fudge, brisket tacos or breakfast tacos depending on time of day, beaver nuggets

Then stop at the Roady's near Scott, pee, etc, then head home.

We used to stop at Peto's. I've found that while they were nice at first, it's gone downhill a whole lot in last few years.

This always intrigued me when I was a kid riding in a car on that route.

My grandmother worked there when I was growing up. She grew up with Babe Didrikson.

In Lake Charles, Balls Fried Chicken in Enterprise, just south of I-10. Look at the menu board for specials, like 8 pc dark meat for $5.99.

I'm on my way to NOLA right now from Houston. I'd like to pick up some boudin on my way back to bring back home. What's the best place to do that? I see Billy's mentioned in this thread. Is that my best bet?

Billy’s and Best Stop are within 5 minutes of each other and right off the interstate so I would get some from both. But if I had to pick 1, it would be Billy’s.

I think that's what we'll do. Thanks for the tips!

I'm looking up the places mentioned in this thread as we drive... I'm getting so hungry now! We haven't hit the LA border yet. If it wasn't for an appointment we've got to make in New Orleans...
