Please recommend a good Bourbon for me to give my boss for Christmas. I know NOTHING about bourbon and I'm OT poor, so please keep it at $100 or less. Thanks y'all.

The best bottle you have a decent chance of finding on the shelves is the Elijah Craig barrel proof, this is not to be confused with the small-batch which would be around $30. Price should be around $70 if you are in the Baton Rouge area.

I like the Four Roses small batch. Picked a bottle up last weekend for $50.

Thanks for that recommendation. I'm in the Jackson, MS (prayers accepted), are there any good Mississippi brands?

Rich Grain Distilling Bourbon Whiskey made in Canton, Ms. I believe it is available for purchase at liquour stores as well as at the distillery itself.

I think Cathead (same people that make the vodka) makes a bourbon as well.

While I love ECBP, if he's not into barrel proofs I'd stay away...this one is HEAT

No offense, but if you're wanting good bourbon, you need something from Kentucky, not Mississippi. I'd go with something from Jefferson's lineup...maybe the Ocean Cask Strength.

Four roses single barrel is excellent, about $50-40 or so, comes in a really elegant bottle and is easy to find.

It's not bourbon but Whistle pig rye is excellent and sure to be appreciated..the 10 year is $70

Makers mark limited release is all over the place right now...it's about $50-60 is limited and an outstanding elevation on makers.

Those are ones I would go with off the top of my head that would appeal to just about any serious american whiskey drinker

Wine and Spirits in the Quarter has some pretty good barrel selections. I know they have a Makers pick and Old Forrester and Old Scout.

You started off with a bang. Then you said this...

I love any of the EH Taylors, but the Single Barrel ($70ish) can be the bomb.

A friend of mine had a pour of that last night. Wasn't one of his favorites.

There're about ten of them. I haven't run across any yet but I'm new at this.

I have this bottle but some people may not like a 125+ proof bourbon.
