Anybody have a good boudin place that ships for a reasonable price?
I was ordering some for Billy's in Opelousas and the shipping was going to be $75. I just wanted to send a 4-5 lbs of stuff for somebody's birthday.

Unfortunately with the price of shipping these days, that is reasonable. They have to pack it with dry ice and its probably a faster than normal service.

ETA: You could maybe just buy the boudin, find your own dry ice and ship it USPS flat rate. Large box is like $22 or something. Supposed to arrive in 2 days anywhere in the country. Ship it frozen of course.

I'll share with you an experience And I had shipping some of that stuff. None of it is going to be really cheap but do not go on a Friday around lunch time. The ice packs that they use are only guaranteed for 48 hours which would not carry it through to Monday. Therefore they will have to expedite it which costs WAY more than $75.

Good luck. Very thoughtful gift.

This site has Best Stop smoked boudin. You can load your card and then click to estimate shipping. I don't know if it will be any cheaper. Depends on how much you buy and where it's going.

Thanks LCA131. I didn't think about that. I believe this was on a Wed.
The $75 is not terrible if I'm filling up the box completely. But just to send about 5 lbs or stuff, it's not reasonable.

Gris Gris, thanks for the link to this website. Never knew this existed. I will be using it for sure.

I miss being able to swing by Jerry Lee's in Baton Rouge and grabbing boudin and pork skins

I've never had Best Stop...is it pretty good.

Thanks msap9020, I just ordered a moderate size order for my brother in Texas from the website.
I then went to Billy's Boudin and made a big order for my household and am waiting on a call back about the shipping.

Yes it was thanks. I think it came out to be $38. Thank you for the link. Plus it is a different boudin brand than what we usually get. It is usually Billy's in Krotz Springs or Opelousas, or Jerry Lee's in Baton Rouge.
So trying Best Stop is another plus as neither my brother or I have tried it before.
So the shipping is proportional to your order where at Billy's it is $75 regardless. So there it pays to order big.

My favorite boudin on the planet is Kartchners in Scott Louisiana

They have a lot of variety and I recommend trying variations but definitely Get the smoked pork

lsupride87, I should have some Billy's coming in tomorrow. I ordered $200+ of food and the shipping was $75 flat. I'm curious to see how much more could've gone in the chest when I get it.
If there is some room left I can increase the order next time around to make sure the box is full.

Not a huge fan of Best Stop outside of their smoked boudin, to be honest. Billy’s and Bourque’s are my favorite “regular” boudin. Obviously can get some pepperjack balls from Billy’s too

way ahead of you bossflossjr. Got both types of boudin balls.
Also thru in some stuffed chicken breast and crawfish roll ups. My wife got those one time passing thru Krotz Springs and she liked them a lot.
