Reports are that they are selling alcohol without a license. Could they be that defiant?

They’re woke so they don’t have to follow laws.

Oof. Think the owner did some time recently.
Boil And Roux Co-Owner
The co-owner of Boil & Roux restaurant was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison after he violated the terms of his supervised release.
Restauranteur, producer and event promoter Adrian C. Hammond Jr., was convicted in 2017 of bank fraud, money laundering and obstructing the due administration of the Internal Revenue Code, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Hammond, 41, defrauded a local bank in 2013 when he used approved business loans for a restaurant called Best Boilers to illegally launder money. Then, between 2011 and 2016, he “attempted to impede and obstruct the IRS in an effort to unjustly enrich himself,” prosecutors said.
He was sentenced to one year and a day in federal prison for those offenses and ordered to serve a three-year term of supervised release when he left prison in August 2019.
This week, Hammond was found to have violated the conditions of his release when he failed to report a DWI arrest to his probation officer in a timely manner. In that incident, he was allegedly driving more than 100 mph and was arrested by the Baton Rouge Police Department on several counts.

Boil and Roux, a restaurant that I ate at once and won’t again.

They got their liquor license suspended for another 60 days and were fined. A few from the board wanted it revoked, but the others said the fine was enough. The Advocate
They never get permits for events, the neighborhood around them has constantly complained about issues, and now they sell alcohol when they are on suspension.
Every single one of those is a reason that the board has pulled other places licenses before - this place has done all 3.
If this was pretty much any other alcohol establishment it would be shut down. Why are they allowing it to stay open???

Apparently he dindu nothing:
Dear @WAFB and Board Members,
I must address the misleading narratives being circulated about Boil & Roux. Contrary to reports suggesting non-compliance, we have diligently and lawfully applied for all necessary permits related to renovations, modifications, and special events. It’s disheartening to see our efforts misrepresented, casting shadows over our commitment to operate within the bounds of the law.
The narrative that we disregard rules is not only false but overlooks the undue scrutiny and challenges we’ve faced, notably from the councilwoman Denise Amarosa and the ABC Board. We urge for a balanced portrayal that acknowledges our attempts to navigate these complexities in good faith.
Should there be interest in a more nuanced story, one that delves into the evidence we hold and the obstacles we’ve encountered, I am more than willing to provide insights. Let’s prioritize facts over sensationalism.
“I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our community for the overwhelming support, calls, and concerns during this challenging time. Your solidarity means the world to us, and we encourage you to continue supporting Boil & Roux as we navigate this ongoing struggle.
We also call upon all community leaders to stand with us in this fight for justice and fairness. Leadership is defined by action in times of adversity. Those who choose to stand on the sidelines should not claim the title of community leader.
Together, we are stronger. Double up and fall in! IYKYK!
Sincerely,
Maurice Walker
Owner, Boil & Roux”

I missed this part of a WAFB article:
quote:
The sixth-month suspension can only begin if Boil and Roux had a liquor license in the first place, which it currently does not. Officials from the city-parish said Boil and Roux’s local liquor license expired in January and Walker has been unable to renew it because of other issues with the State Fire Marshal.
Adding to that, WAFB has confirmed with the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control that Boil and Roux does not have a state license to sell alcohol either. Officials confirmed that their state license also expired and has not yet been renewed.

I was bored as shite and watched a few episodes of “Restaurant Impossible” on HBO Max, and sure enough Boil and Roux was an episode. Dude is a special brand of dipshit if it’s the same owner on the episode

Will continue to avoid this restaurant like the plague for the remainder of its miserable existence. (Unless of course Calendar’s reopens one day)

@wafb @wbrz @theadvocatebr I want to address the misleading claims that I failed to properly apply for a special events permit in February. On April 25th, Councilwoman Denise Amarosa verbally committed to approving our request, with the stipulation that we conclude the event by 10pm. It’s important to note, however, that no Cinco de Mayo celebration in Baton Rouge traditionally ends at this time.
Despite this, evidence clearly shows that our event was indeed approved, albeit the official permit was only issued a few hours before the event was due to start. Subsequently, I faced public criticism and fines for several months, a narrative largely ignored by media outlets.
More Facebook nonsense:
This situation has impacted not just me, but also my family, staff, and vendors, affecting our ability to serve our community effectively.
It’s time to set the record straight and share the actual facts. Is anyone interested in reporting the actual facts? Once I release these recordings, text messages, and emails, some may need to consider updating their resumes!

Then dont lease a restaurant next to a residential neighborhood if you dont want to have to deal with residents wanting peace and quiet when they go to sleep.
