Basically like steak. It was okay, but we also realized we were advised incorrectly on proper temp.

That's one gripe with Rouj, but to be fair it's not necessarily their fault with the current employee shortage. The service has been downright awkward in times we've been. During the kangaroo visit, our server looked freshly 18. Sweet dude was trying, but just had no idea what he was doing.

We opened the bottles of wine for him because he had no idea how to. When pouring, he spilled all over the table at each person's place

He told us to get the kangaroo cooked a good bit. Turns out you eat it rare/med-rare like any other steak.

It's essentially just a super lean beef if I remember correctly. Technically it does meet the qualifications I believe.

I always order it seared like tuna

It's very lean. Cooked medium it reminded me of Piccadilly roast beef

The place reminds me of Copelands

I agree with you that the food is not good here. I've had more misses than hits. That said, I'm not sure if I am supposed to give you an upvote (because I agree) or a downvote (for the place being shite)?

It’s been hit and miss for me. My theory for Rouj Creole and Beausoleil Costal is that their menu is too high grade/complex for the caliber of cooks they have preparing the food.

I think that's a fair assessment. Line cooks in BR aren't exactly aspiring chefs most of the time. Just stoners who don't want to deal with the public.

Went there the first week it opened. Wife and I thought we were in a hidden camera skit.

They brought her fish out, completely raw in the middle. Apologized profusely, brought it back to the kitchen, came back with it 5 minutes later - still completely raw. Apologized even more profusely, they couldn't believe this happened again etc, brought it a 3rd time and - yep - raw again. I said this has to be a joke. I mean even after the 3rd attempt this fish looked like it could still swim.

We finally said don't worry about it, we'll figure something else out. Gave us a gift card and we haven't been back.

We enjoy going but I can admit the food is completely hit and miss. We basically only go very early for happy hour. We get the half price appetizers and drinks and make it our meal. Their entrees are simply not worth it too often.
