BeastFRO Italia - last time I went, there was a long blond hair (ostensibly from the little bitty white guy that’s been working there from the beginning) in my salad, the meatballs and marinara appetizer and the bread pudding. Can’t stomach going back. And by “in” the meatballs, the long strand of hair was connected 2 meatballs together like it was baked into the meat mix before cooking.

Dang! That’s farther away and I probably won’t be making that trek. Too bad because I love their chicken parm.

Bistro Italia is a very solid little restaurant. We don't live far away and eat there or get takeout fairly often. They'll do fine in a bigger spot right down the road.

At peak weekend dinner times sometimes you can't get a table in the current location and the parking sucks.

The Outback a couple of blocks from the theatre closed recently. Maybe that's where they're moving. Would be a big step up from their current location.

From what I've heard, Louis DeAngelo's cousin owns Bistro Italia. He worked at DeAngolo's for years, so the food and menu should be very similar.

Looks a little pricey for that. I really enjoyed DeAngelos though. But, don't think I'd pay $25 for spaghetti and meatballs or $30 for a pizza if that's what it is...at least not often. ETA: Menu I found online apparently was a door dash inflated menu. Prices seem reasonable for Deangelos level food. Looking forward to trying it.

It's too bad because if it was another Deangelos, I'd probably frequent this place all the time.

I'm hoping it's a notch above.

Bistro Italia opened its new location on Tuesday, and this spot is almost twice as large.

At 15255 George O'Neal Road, the new Bistro Italia location is fully open for business. The New Jersey-born owner, Jon Wilkinson, said they had grown out of the old spot at Coursey Boulevard a couple of years ago.

The Italian restaurant opened 12 years ago in 2014 and serves pizzas, pastas, salads, wraps and sandwiches in a casual dining atmosphere.

Wilkinson wanted to create the same neighborhood restaurant, but aims to add a few new things. Some of those include expanded hours and some new menu items.

Bistro Italia, 15255 George Oneal Road, Baton Rouge. Open daily from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sundays.

Not the CVS, but the other end of the building where a gymnastics business was.
