Beyond Meat

Has anybody ever tried this fake meat called Beyond Meat?
A new brewery opened in town and they only serve vegan dishes. That would be ok, because I'll eat vegetables, but most of their dishes contain some sort of fake meat. Seitan and Beyond Meat.
I saw pictures of this Beyond Meat stuff, and it almost looks legit.
I think I'll just drink beer there and go to the Mexican place across the street for food.

It's not tofu. It's grown in the lab instead of in a cow. On the cellular level it's beef through and through. I'd be interested to try it. Funny thing is all the animal rights activists are pushing for this, but if it takes off what use are farm animals to us anymore?
Edit: I'm wrong about this one. Beyond meat is plant based. frick that. I was thinking of Memphis Meats.

This is the right move.

I've tried it
My brother in law has a bunch of random investments so he invested in this just to do it
He's not vegan but they sent him a sample of some of the burgers so we grilled them
They were actually good. They are NOT as good as a real burger from a burger joint, but they're better than some burgers i've had at friends places that dont know how to make a damn hamburger

It is Modern Times. They originated in California. I don't know of any breweries in Oregon that serve only vegan stuff, except for this one. Beer drinkers in Oregon are carnivores, for the most part...
Fortunately, there are 2 other breweries within a block of Modern Times that do serve real food, and a number of local food joints in between. Not eating at Modern Times won't be an issue.
I was just wondering about the burger. It looks real enough, but then again, pictures of burgers often times don't resemble the real thing.

Some professors at Mizzou came up with the science behind Beyond Meat, with the thinking that if you fixed the texture of plant-based food to make it more like chicken or beef, then you might be able to mimic the taste close enough to make it worth eating. They've got a plant here in Columbia where they make all of it, and it's actually not bad compared to most of the other fake meat products out there that are trying to be something it's not.
That being said, it's really weird that a brewery would close off a huge chunk of its potential customers by only serving plant-based proteins.

I’d try it in a heartbeat. I’d love to find a vegetarian burger substitute that didn’t suck. About the best I’ve had is a black bean burger, and there’s no mistaking that for a real burger.

I bet you that burger doesn't taste nearly as good as it looks.
