Outside in a pot on the grill.

Made the mistake of doing it on my stove top inside the very first time I tried. Felt like I could smell the tallow in the walls for months.

This is what I do. Put all of the fat trimmings into a Dutch oven and cook for a few hours. Very easy to do.

^this. Takes quite a few hours but it works great. You know when it’s done when you have cracklin. Strain the tallow out and feed your dogs a delicious crispy treat

I don't know man, some of those fatty, beefy and crispy bits are delicious with some red wine!

I put mine in an tin-foil pan, fill about half way with water and stick it in the gas grill on low for about 10 hours.

Grind them up in a meat grinder, throw them in a disposable foil pan in the oven at 250 for several hours until it’s fully rendered. Strain out the bits into some cheesecloth and squeeze the remaining grease out of them. Sprinkle the crispy bits on a salad like bacon bits and enjoy.

Never thought of grinding. I like the idea of using the bits like bacon bits. Does it speed the process up as well?

I never really timed it but it should only take 2-3 hours max and it’s not going to hurt anything if you leave it in there a while while you’re doing other things
