Hey guys, I have a suckling pig that my dad got today from a friend. It's a hog that they trapped at their camp. I want to roast it whole on the Green egg. Problem is that I am going out of town until Sunday afternoon. 2 questions, what is the best rub and method of cooking it (temp and rub) and also should I brine it today and have it be good by Sunday? Thanks.

Cajun microwave is the real way to go.

How much does it weigh?

Cajun micro.

but, to be honest, a domestic pig is better than a wild hog when you use a bbq pit or a Cajun micro because of the fat content.

now.......in a gravy........give me that wild hog

I did a wild suckling hog once, but wrapped it in bacon and stuffed with breakfast sausage to provide fat content.

I've done several on just a cheap offset smoker. 225 deg until it gets above 160 deep in the shoulder. Brining or injecting are good ideas. Rub with whatever you butt rub is. Cajun microwave works well too, but I like getting some smoke.

if it fits in a crock pot, everyone I've done that way has been ridiculously good. cover with onions and bbq sauce and let her go for 8-10 hours.

I got the hog earlier and the guy took the skin off. I think I may just smoke this like a boston butt at this point. Thanks for the suggestions though, I will be sure to use them when I get one with the skin on.

Wrap some bacon around it if it's skinned. It will be simply fine.
