What is your go to? I've been using Emeril's, but I'm thinking of trying some others to see the difference.
I know it's easy to make your own, but I usually cut that corner.

Better than bouillon no doubt

+1 on Better than Bouillion. The roasted mushroom flavor is good too.

Looks like this is what I'll try next. I'm trying to tweak my gumbo recipe and I wanted to start with the chicken stock

Yes and they make a low sodium version if you want that.

Kirkland brand is also pretty good

I use Kitchen Basics..It's a little more expensive but worth it..It goes on sale around Thanksgiving and that is when I make my Turkey and sausage gumbo..

Is the normal version excessively salty?

I second this.
As far as making a chicken gumbo I use Kitchen Basics and "salt" it with Better than bouillon.

I don't think it is saltier than similar products, but I use rotisserie chickens in my gumbo (i.e. they are already salted), so the low sodium version gives me more control of the salt content of the gumbo.

BTB isn't stock, it's bouillon. I use it, but it just isn't the same thing. Unsalted Kitchen Basics is my stock.

Wrong. It's Better Than Bouillon. Show some respect for the GOAT.

That jar lasts me a month tops.
It's hands down the best you can buy. I use it in everything.

So I've tried several more stocks
This is my rank...
1. Kitchen basics
2. Better than bouillon
3. Kitchen basics organic
4. Emerils
5. Fresh market brand
I was surprised how different the regular kitchen basics tasted compared to the organic version. I liked the better than bouillon, but I definitely think kitchen basics will be my go to from here on out.
