What’s the best steakhouse you have been to anywhere in the world?

To be quite honest, there’s not much discernible difference in quality at all the 5 Star steakhouses.

I feel the same way. Once you get up to a certain level there's not much room for improvement

Some notables that I have eaten at, and yes, some are chains ... and are excellent at what they do.
Ruth's Chris
Pappas Bros.
Del Frisco's
Bob's Steak & Chop House (Grapevine)
Perry's Steakhouse (Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston) - Great pork chop
Knife (Dallas)
Bavette's (Chicago)
Gene & Georgetti (Chicago)
Bern's (Tampa)
Kayne Prime (Nashville)
Oak Steakhouse (Nashville)
Santa Fe Steakhouse (McAllen, TX)
Portland City Grill - Great pork chop
Dickie Brennan's (New Orleans)
Prime at Bellagio (Las Vegas)
The Steakhouse at Circus Circus (Las Vegas)
One that failed for us when we went (that the board often thinks highly of) - Nick & Sam's (Dallas)
And locally speaking, Fleming's in Baton Rouge has, in my opinion, really gone downhill. It's a former shell of itself. Steaks never were the best, however their pork chop is stellar and even that the last few times I have gone, wasn't like I remembered it.

It’s a steakhouse. Once you hit a certain tier, they’re all the same.
Honestly, steakhouses are antiquated.
I didn’t understand all the fuss. It was a good steak, but nothing about the place blew me away.

Once mankind was able to sous vide, or reverse sear, the steakhouse took a back seat to sushi.

At almost all the top tier steakhouses, the sides, appetizers and prices are all the same.
There’s seriously zero difference once you hit that top tier.

Sometimes a place is bigger than a steak.

Not what I meant when using the term “antiquated”
Steakhouses are fine, and a good one is an enjoyable experience. But I can’t remember the last time I went to a steakhouse and thought to myself, “man, that was an incredible meal and worth every penny. What a memorable meal.”

Same here. The desert room is legit and the wine cellar was cool to see but the steak was nothing special. For the money it was the worst steak I’ve ever had in that price range.

I think the great thing about a top tier steakhouse is the consistency. You know what you’re going to get- nothing weird, no surprises.
But, you’re right, it’s not going to be a life changing meal.
I had sushi a few months ago in Vegas that was by far the greatest meal I’ve ever had. Blows away any steakhouse experience.

A unique steakhouse was the old Charlie's before Katrina. The crotchety old lady waitress, lettuce wedges and no menu was an experience. The food was good as well.

That’s a totally valid line of thought, and I completely understand it. I’m not hating on anyone who enjoys a steakhouse.
My personal preference is that if I’m spending around what a steakhouse would cost, I’d like to try someplace different. I might end up getting burned, but more often than not I walk away really happy and having tried a food or combination I’d never had before.

Crescent City Steakhouse says hello.

Double Eagle (Las Vegas, NV)
Tornado Room (Madison, WI)
Peter Luger’s (Brooklyn, NY)
The Hitching Post (Buellton, CA)
SW SteakHouse (Las Vegas, NV)
Cap Grille (Washington, DC)
Each is slightly different. Honestly, some make the list because of location or restaurant environment.
