The best I've had is the Roma Special at Café Roma that was on Sherwood Forest Blvd but it's long gone. It was one of the best deli's ever in the city.

Still open. Inga is retired and lives in Seattle. Both locations are owned by former employees. Grab a giant steak and provolone every time I go back. And that's usually after I eat a regular there.

I really miss the roast pork au jus from Chelsea's, that sandwich was delicious. Right now I'd have to go with the Pork Belly and Greens from City Pork. Blackened Alligator Sandwich from Chimes as a close second.

My favorite was the andouille-crusted oyster poboy with bleu cheese slaw at Chimes, but they took it off the menu

Technically not BR, but The Local in DS makes some of the best sandwiches I've had in the area.

Back in the 70s I used to eat at "The Library" just off campus on Chimes. They had a damn good mufulatta. But what i liked better was a variation they had - instead of deli meats, you could get it with roast beef and gravy. It still had the olive mix on it that gave it a wonderful saltiness for the beef. I think it was called the Joe's Special, but it might have been the Library Special.

ETA: Mountain Tiger beat me to to it.

I really like the Piazza from LaDavina next to Trader Joe's.

Went there one time and paid about $15 for a smallish sandwich, chips, and a drink. Wasn't worth it.

I was a big fan of the Folse special there the closest thing to it is the Italian Special at Anthony's Deli.

The sandwiches at Roma were awesome. Just off the top of my head, 3 places from the Sherwood/Coursey area that I'd love to have back are Roma, Ground Patti & the original China Express.
