I’m making a trip to Lafayette in a couple weeks, what are the best restaurants to hit while there?

Need to be more specific. Fine dining, po-boys, seafood, oysters, breakfast, pizza, date night, kid friendly, Italian, etc…

I only ate there once but I usually judge a poboy place on their roast beef and shrimp. Had the roast beef and it seemed like a boars head slice roast beef type meat.

We will be there Friday thru Sunday, so breakfast, brunch, lunch dinner…Probably not fine dining, more casual dining. Seafood, Cajun, anything good. I’ve always heard Lafayette has great restaurants but I’ve never stayed there.

Ate at Don's with a large group last weekend. It was great. For classic LA seafood it's worth considering.

Also, take a drive out to Scott (Exit 97) and try some boudin balls or rolls from Billy's or Kartchners (and there are others but these are my favorites).

iMonelli

I frequent Lafayette for work and have tried this place twice. I just don't get the hype. Food, wine list & service were just awful. Maybe I was just getting the wrong thing, but I should have just gone two doors down and gotten Social (excellent cocktails, fantastic whiskey/wine selection, delicious food). There are dozens of better places for lunch/dinner, in my humble opinion.

My experience with imonelli is that the food is good but the service and overall experience is shite.

There is no reason why I would choose to go there over Marcello’s, especially because I live closer to Marcello’s.

If you want Italian in Lafayette, go to Marcello’s.

Ok, in the spirit of keeping it casual and locally owned, and not focused on fine dining...

Friday Night:
Fezzo's - get your boiled crawfish or whatever you need for a Cajun food fix. It's Lent, so be prepared to wait at seafood restaurants on Friday.

Saturday:
Breakfast - The French Press
Lunch - Pop's Poboys
Light Dinner - Social
Heavy Dinner - La Fonda's It's literally next door to Social. There's better food other places, but this is an old-school Lafayette place and you're keeping it casual.

Sunday (Hit up the city of Scott on the way out if you're driving):
Breakfast - Coffee Depot - good beignets
Lunch - Uncle T's - Good po-boys, fried food, oysters
Take-home goodies: Nunu's, Billy's, Don's, Best Stop, Karthners
