My only issue with Capital City is that they don't use real poboy bread either.

When did they stop using leidenheimer?

I drove over there at lunch a few months ago and had a shrimp poboy based on a food board recommendation. It was essentially regular sub bread. Maybe they ran out? It wasn't bad by any means but definitely not traditional poboy bread.

You do. Jasmine's is some damned good food, they're just way on the other side of the city from me, so I don't get it often.

Yeah it's about 2 miles from my house so we eat it pretty often. It's definitely a gem in SE BR.

THE WORST PO BOY IN BATON ROUGE IS PO BOY EXPRESS

I remember it being bad and overpriced the one time I had it a while ago and just looked on their menu and they want 13.45 for a large Ham poboy.

I just had a Jazz Daddies ham and cheese poboy the other day. It gets my vote for best poboy. A lot like the old Nooleys pressed poboy. Really good.

Jed's (closed)
Tony's seafood (plank road, may as well be closed)
Elisa's (closed)
Brew backers (closed)
Rocco's (closed)
Maxwell's ($13 for a 5 inch sandwich, may as well be closed)
Roux 61 (closed)
Jasmine's (closed)

Not sure what your definition of "open" is...or "most".

The merchant, Tony’s Seafood, Roux 61, Chimes, Sammy’s, Brewbachers, Parrains, Georges.. your post made it sound like they’re all closed.

Oops Roux61 is closed. But plenty of poboy places are open today..

Well all of the places I just listed except Roux 61 are currently open. Maybe you’re not good at Google?

No love for the Save More Market? That's where I send out of towners for a true Baton Rouge experience.

The food is good. The prices are not. Only place I've ever seen around here with an almost $8 fry basket.

rocco's is pretty good, but you're right about the prices. every time we go there, we finish our meals and say "this is the last time." so expensive for what you get
