Am surprised by the love for Red Zeppelin. I had it once, and it was quite mediocre. Never been back. Lit Pizza is a lot better and actually good. Next in line would be Mellow Mushroom, though I like their hoagies better than their pizza, especially the Italian, which beats the shite out of everything Anthony's Deli offers.

Looks like Red Stick needs to step up their pizza game.

Anthony's is so overrated here. It's thoroughly meh. I've had the muff, the Italian poboy, and spaghetti. I see no reason to go back.

Holy shite

There is only one factual part about this post and that is that Lit Pizza is good. The rest is a load of bullshite.

I really like Anthony's and don't agree on that place specifically.

That being said, there is this odd phenomenon with hole-in-the-walls where people will rave about them even when the food isn't very good. I don't know if it is an effort to be in the know or what..

There's quite a few plate lunch/soul food type spots that are raved about here where they're just heating up cans of vegetables and using packaged gravy mixes over rice. My own smothered greens are better than 90% of the places in town. They're bland AF at most places.

dont you love the hipster irony? they spend so much money trying to look disheveled, and then they lift up crappy places just because they are crappy and unknown. once those places become popular, they ditch them because they are too popular

people try too hard to be trendsetters. that is the basic theme of this rant

Dorothy's, perhaps? I got a pork chop and rice and fried catfish one day, and it was not good.

Dorothy’s was the one I had in mind, yes

It’s not the only one either. It’s like people see a run-down building and a black lady in the kitchen, and that automatically means it is good. Some of these places are serving noodles with a melted Kraft single and calling it mac and cheese. Come on, people.

To be fair, Barry ran off anybody who dared try to substitute something on one of his pizzas. He made great pizza and I miss it. He was just a terrible businessman.

He was the pizza nazi, no doubt, but he knew what the hell he was doing. I always got along with him just fine.

I never had a problem at Mama Della's... but I can see why he failed.

Red Zeppelin is one of the best in town... I haven't been to Rocca yet. DiGiullio Bros. also makes a really good pizza.

Mellow Mushroom and Rotolo's Craft & Crust both put out a consistently good product. I would have Oscar's at the same level if they were still around.

Bottom tier for me would be Fleur de Lis, Pastime, and Schlitz & Giggles.

Yeah, we got along great. But it was like watching a train wreck to see him deal with the staff and some other customers.
