I prefer Frank's to Central Grocery in the FQ. CG makes all their muffs in the morning, and they sit around until sold. Frank's will make you a fresh muff on request. Frank's is only two doors down from CG.
I contend the pre-making of the Central Grocery muffuletta is actually what makes it superior to most others. It allows all the flavors of the meat and olive salad to marry and soak sufficiently into the bread.

The pictures look good. I think I’ll go get that Monday special. Maybe she’ll smile at me as well.

The muff here is very similar to Anthonys.

Going to Marrero tomorrow to redeem a $30 coupon at Di Martino's!
Now we’re talking! Go to the one in Algiers, or least avoid the one in Harvey.
ETA: I mean you should avoid the one in Marrero, on the West Bank Expressway. I find the other ones to be better.

Where is the best muffuletta in Baton Rouge?
Good luck. There isn’t a really good one in Baton Rouge. The best one I have found is actually at Heather V’s Cafe on Perkins.

You really should go to DiMartino’s in Algiers, Terrytown, or Covington and get one. It’s like manna from heaven!

I'm just curious, but have you tried the muffs at Anthony's and Cannatella's? I haven't had Cannatella's yet, but Anthony's makes one that's pretty good. It's not CG good, but good enough to make up for the drive and parking.

The Hawk's Nest had a good one.

Am I the only one who was underwhelmed by Central Grocery’s muffuletta? I just prefer them warm.
Same. Went once many many moons ago, was disappointed, never went back.

I second Jason’s Deli. Best for what I found in BR.

Cannatella's
I went there one evening. I was so looking forward to having a really good Muffaletta, but I didn’t care for it much at all.

I'm partial to Anthony's. I like their take on it as a pressed sandwich.
The problem is every time I go in there for just one sandwich, I end up leaving in a daze with an Italian Lover, a meatball, a muff, and a frozen cacciatore wondering what the frick just happened.
