Sabella's in Revere has fantastic lasagna
I've only ever gotten it from the freezer case, and I think it's mostly prepared/takeout food

Contessa is very good, as is Giulia in Cambridge. The Daily Catch on the Waterfront (Atlantic Avenue) is awesome.
The North End is loaded with Italian restaurants and I think the competition keeps most places on the bright. Restaurants there tend to be small and not ideally suited for long and leisurely meals. I'd probably recommend the North End for lunch.
Currently, a lot of Boston's most hyped places seem to be in the Asian realm, for whatever that's worth.
