Central...26-30 taps

Don't want to offend anyone, but will Central's market support this? I'd think 10 at tops, then a decent small inventory bottle selection on the chance you get some mavens passing through. I could see a bunch of kegs sitting around getting stale.

30 seems like a ton.

You could be sitting on some old craft beer in no time. I'd rather a fresh BMC over a stale craft.

Just something to think about.

Hmm. I agree.

Ignore my other post. It was from the perspective of what I'd like, not what would give you success.

Another thing. I wonder if having BMC's on tap is a good idea? I would assume serving nothing but tap is the more profitable route, but having bottles and tap may be bad idea. I could see most people just ordering bottles, leaving your tap to age.

Just a question. No personal experience in this field, aside from countless hours as a customer.

Well, it's not like BL the Elder, but the Pliny was almost as awesome:

The Defenestration was quite awesome as well, but doubt it makes it to Central:

I think if there was a coordinated push to have folks try certain beers with certain foods, it could turn product over better.

And also, an educated waitstaff to make recommendations based on feedback from the patrons.

I would say Goose Island Honkers Ale would be a good one to satisfy one of the BMC taps. Its a good entry beer for folks not too familiar with the hoppier stuff.

And obviously the local stuff.

nobody said purple haze, but the stuff seems to sell well among the folks who drink mainly bud, miller, etc.

i like some of the european beers on tap - e.g. guinness, stella, netcastle, etc.

Guinness is a staple of a solid tap selection, IMO.

Not because I'll ever order it, but because there are shitloads of people who will because they think it shows that they like "good" or "craft" beer.

I enjoy Guinness from time to time. I don't think that everyone that orders it is trying to be pretentious, it's good.

I didn't mean to suggest pretentious, just that people that routinely order it generally haven't really been exposed to the craft beer scene.

If you think Guinness is good, come to the daily beer thread. We'll give you better examples of the style.
