Last time I had them at Dodie's they were good.

Dodies used to be my go-to when I lived there. The family is from NOLA & BR. The original one on lower Greenville, not the newer one next to Terrelli's.

I've eaten Nate's in Addison . Not the greatest I've ever had, but not bad. I was told it was started by a guy originally from Lafayette.

If LSU alumni does a crawfish boil in the Dallas area go to it.
On April 16th in Metairie, St. Catherine of Siena Men's Club is doing a crawfish cookoff. There are usually 20+ teams and it's all you can eat.
Recommend it to anyone who will be in the area.

I've lived in San Antonio for 3 years and I wouldn't dare buy/eat any crawfish that I haven't boiled myself. Either that, or I have to drive 5 hours to Lake Charles.

We have awful crawfish. Those who say "go to Louisiana" speak the truth.

Dodies or Half Shells in Snider Plaza by SMU. Half Shells is my goto for poboys in Dallas too. Not saying they are as good as NOLA but they are decent. Dodie's overall food quality has gone downhill since they opened other Dodies in the metroplex and started concentrating on spinoffs such as the 504 Grill.

Nate's in Addison and all the Razzoo's have them. Probably Pappadeaux too.
Only when in season so I assume they're the real deal.
Those places are ok at best in my experience.

Silly question, but why can't a city of 5 million plus that's so close to LA have better crawfish? I mean, Houston doesn't have this issue. It's not like Dallas is in West Texas.

You can buy live pond Louisiana crawfish here fairly easily , in a pinch they will do. I typically only buy spillway crawfish, little harder to come by.

Houston has always drawn people from La for work in Oil & Gas. Dallas never has been a draw for cajuns as the jobs up here require an education.

Cajun Crawfish Company
Give this guy a try. He mainly caters and I have been at several large functions (100+) people where he boiled the crawfish onsite using his mobile trailers. He also boils at some of the supermarkets in the area. Contact him to see if he might be scheduled at a store near you.
He can also supply you with live crawfish if you want to do them yourself.
I like Nate's in Addison on Midway but not so much his crawfish. As someone else said they sprinkle seasoning on the outside. Not terrible but not what I'm used to. Dodie's on Greenville used to be good. Even the atmosphere with the beer cases showing you the queue on the way in reminded me of an old New Orleans style local bar.

Not true at all. Dallas has tons of Louisiana people. Allen, McKinney and Plano are mostly LA expats.
