If you're routinely dining in Alexandria, it stands to reason that the likely best restaurant in the area would always be the best restaurant you've been to of late, ya know? It's the quintessential example of a relatively "big" fish in a small pond.

But people are saying it's not even in the top 3. Or, did you miss that?

The atmosphere is great at DG, but the food quality at Caro's, Wildwood, and Word of Mouth is better at 1/5th the price point. For steak Bellino's is much better. My opinion is based on only one visit to DG, but it was bad enough to make me not want to return.

No fan of DG here but those three don't serve the same purpose. When looking at types of restaurants that you would go to on a date night in Alexandria there just aren't many options. DG is one of them, and it will stay high on my list because I just don't care about food that much, I would much rather have fun and I enjoy the atmosphere enough to overlook what I feel is sub par food.

My go to for good food and good atmosphere is Bellinos, hands down. After that I choose Spirits then either Diamond Grill or Embers, I love the food at Veronas but just don't enjoy the space itself. Embers would be number 3 easy, but the damn bands they put on that stage can just blast you out of the place. My wife just doesn't like Chinese that much, but the Mandarin is pretty damn good.

Lunch is a different story in Alexandria, we have a lot of good lunch spots IMO.

If I was taking a bunch of my older relatives, I would go to Tunks. Old people love a salad stump.

This is the real problem.

Just had three tacos with carnitas and the fixins. Damn good. If you get the orange sauce, proceed with caution if you're not into hot.

I vote Habibi’s as well. Rockys in bunkie for boiled crawfish.

This

Habibi's is fantastic and IMO the best food in CENLA.

Rocky's is great if you want seafood/cajun food. Good atmosphere as well.

I would also say that my two favorite places prior to the quarantine were two new and up and coming restaurants. One is Jim Deggy’s. It is in Pineville and has a lot of unique pizza choices that are all good. It has a nice bar area too for extended hang out sessions but I have not been in the last couple of weeks. I am sure the atmosphere is still there.

Two is Koals bbq. IMO it is way better than outlaws and is just outright good. The customer service is always on point. The atmosphere is casual but crisp if that makes sense. Absolutely a place that you could go for a date night or just go because it is Tuesday.

I love Jim Deggys. And haven't been to Koals since it was the other place prior. It looks to be doing well
