Two areas were BR food is lacking: BBQ and Kolaches

Y'all don't need Kolaches, everyone messes them up. The crap they serve in NYC, or most of the places in Houston suck. Let's keep Kolaches in Central TX.

also, the options you have in Baton Rouge are far better than the options I have in Houston. I mean frick, it's Texas, and there isn't shite for BBQ around here.

Houston is very strange when it comes to bbq. There is no good bbq in Houston, and I'm really not sure why. Oh, and Goode Company SUCKS

It does. We use beef because that is what was abundant, and we used brisket b/c it was cheap. Then the Germans and Czechs used old world techniques to cook it into a very juicy piece of meat. Our bbq rocks.

I am not a big fan of Pimanyoli's, its good, but something about it does not taste right.

But I thought the same of VooDoo.

Say what you want but i'd take Sonny's over either one of those.

MEAT MASTER

I pass him daily. He is set up on plank between airline and harding, on the right if you are going north. It's right in front of a snowball stand and he has a trailer pit that he cooks from that has "meat master" on the top. I don't think he's there everyday, but he is most days. I've had the ribs before and they were as good as anything I've had around town.

Deep South barbq is about 2 blocks from there and is supposed to be good, although I've never tried it.

I'm surprised to see this mentioned on this board since it's in a part of BR that doesn't exist to most on this here.

The place on Airline is/was? Porky's. It was great, but very erratic hours and strange activity in the parking lot. Not sure it's even still open, since the "wonderful" Frank's moved in next door.
Where is Pimanyoli's?

In that Barringer Office Park shopping center on Airline, the light before Highland heading out. Next to Little Village.

Oh, duh. Passed by it a hundred times and didn't know it was BBQ. On our side of town. Thanks!

I'd be curious to find out what you folks think of Pimanyoly's after you try their BBQ for the 1st time. I've been there quite a few times and it is good, but I don't think it's any better than the other BBQ places mentioned in this thread except for Jay's.

Pimanyoly's red beans & rice with a smoked pork chop on Mondays is very good.

Such a shame. The poor texas heathens.

Come to this area, we shall expose you to Fresh Aire (est. 1929), Fat Matts, Sprayberry's, Harold's and Pig n Chik and ye shall be converted.

There's a place in Watson near Story's gas station that doesn't have a business sign up or anything, it just says BBQ on the front. It's in a shopping center. I've been out here for 7 years now and have always thought about giving it a shot but just never have. Anyone know what I'm talking about and/or eaten there before?
