I'll have to try Pimanyoli's. If it's better than Leatha's, it's gotta be damn good.

I also like the Carolina sandwich at VooDoo...

andouille, is Pimanyoli's better than the old Abe's BBQ? used to like that place.

That's a tough question, Abe's was a twice a month treat I really loved. I guess I'll go with Pimanyoli's, because I ate there last and what good is good if it ain't there no mo'.

I do like Pimanyoli's better than Leatha's because Leatha's sauce is just way to sweet for me. It is that cloying, teeth rattling sweet I don't care for. Some people prefer it, not moi.

I'm surprised that Dreamland didn't take off, but not surprised. They were a little too upscale for a BBQ joint.

I never went there, but my friends who are buds with Ricky B said that the bbq just wasn't that good,

I don't know about being too upscale, but I agree that the BBQ just wasn't that good. Because of the reputation, lots of people tried Dreamland. Not many went back for more.

The Dreamland on Perkins was a disaster, whoever bought into that franchise got ripped off. The ribs were so dry and tough, they were inedible, like rib jerky. Gave them a second chance a few weeks later, no better.

It looked like any other chain restaurant on the inside--like a Chili's or something. That is too upscale for a BBQ joint.

A BBQ joint needs to have character. I'd say the inside of George's @ Perkins Overpass, the Original Dreamland, or the old SilverSpoon on Nicholson is what a BBQ joint should look like.

I understand what you are saying and I am not disagreeing with you, but IMO the place failed because of the food and not because of how it looked. It could have looked like George's and still failed because the BBQ was not good.

not a single mention of Sonny's?

i mean it's not amazing, but damn Sonny's isn't a bad option for BBQ in Baton Rouge.

also, the options you have in Baton Rouge are far better than the options I have in Houston. I mean frick, it's Texas, and there isn't shite for BBQ around here.

and whoever mentioned missing kolaches, frick off, that shite ain't ever gonna work in the deep south. biscuits 4 life. take your shitty kolaches back to little messico Houston.
