Come on people, this thread is a joke. Popeye's? Are you serious!?

Look, I've been to all the places that claim to have the "best" chicken... Lorman Country Store, Willie Mae's, etc. and none of them come close to this:

There is Gus's, and then there's everyplace else. There is no comparison.

I got 2 sausage McMuffins, cinnamon melts, and a large Coke for less than $5.

And yes, I remember Fruit Brute, as well as Yummy Mummy.

But my all-time favorite was this:

It is actually not a red-skinned boiled potato. It is a small regular potato, and they cut it open and serve it like a baked potato, but with butter only. They say it has a special process under which it's boiled, to give the interior a "creamy" texture.

When I first started going there 5 or 6 years ago, it was $17.95 for 5 lbs. No one really knew about the place back then. It has gone up in price every year, as hype as spread. Also, the crawfish were HUGE back then. Not only was Hawk's the BEST crawfish, but they also had the BIGGEST crawfish. Last night they were really average in size, and prices were higher than ever.

I have never minded paying the high prices before, but it has really gotten out of hand. Kinda like Drago's... the prices for a dozen charbroiled oysters has increased over the years, but they're so damn good that I keep on paying it. I don't think I'll be back to Hawk's for a while.

Went to Hawk's last night, for my annual visit. Gotta say, I was a little disappointed. The prices are getting out of hand. For 5 lbs., it was $28.95. A potato is $2.95, and 2 small ears of corn cost the same. We had 10 lbs. of crawfish overall, with 2 burgers (for the kids, which were $7.50 each), 4 soft drinks, and a potato, and with tip, it was almost 100 bucks. The worst part is, I was still hungry when we left. :banghead:

Grape Nuts were hard to endure... Grape-Nuts Flakes were one of my favorites, though.

Shawshank didn't win ANY Oscars... definitely the best movie never to win an Oscar. A travesty.

This is the correct answer.

Fleur de Lis is wayyyy too inconsistent to be considered the best. It has been discussed on this board many, many times. Sometimes their pizzas are great; sometimes they are pitiful. Consistency is key, and it's hard to be considered "best" when customers can't rely on the product to be the same on each visit.

The Flatbread Roma (my personal favorite), as well as the pizzas at Bravo are excellent. Their other menu items may not be up to par, but their pizzas and flatbreads are spot-on.
