Does Bouligny Tavern count as a bar

I think Bouligny's food is highly suspect.

I ordered the Salmon crudo once and had to send it back. It was inedible.

I'm a high-ball drinker. Do they have Maker's and coke? if not then Crown and coke? then I'm in, if not than no. I didn't like Delachaise when I went last time, the other two I am not familiar with.

I agree. The pate with tomato jam was one of the worst things I've ever eaten in my life.

If you didn't like Delachaise (which I love) you would hate Bouligny or Oak.

This is in no way a knock on the bar. Great drinks.

Another one not mentioned yet is Cure. They have food similar to Delachaise, and excellent cocktails.

How can you not like Delachaise? Or Bouligny?

I can be a real dick about food and both places are fine. They are perfect if you have a wife that is going to force you to eat small plates everywhere you go anyway.

I find the food at both better than Cure by a lot.

I haven't been to Cane & Table yet but thats supposed to be pretty damn good, from the Cure people.

Some people don't like fancy bars?

I'm just relaying you an experience I've had there. I like Bouligny, love going there. I just know not to go there hungry. The menu isn't great and the Salmon ordeal speaks for itself. It was rancid and they served it.

I would prefer to go a restaurant than Bouligny for dinner.

I've never even seen Salmon crudo there.

The marrow and garlic bruschetta is awesome.

I didn't like what I had, and drank some wine that gave me a headache. A friend lived in those apartments right by Touro. I ate there with him and he swore behind it, but I just didn't think it was that great.
I'll give it another whirl one day. I know from cooking a long time ago, that cooks can have off days.

Basically I prefer the less hip options. Good food, good servings, strong drinks.

This board doesn't seem to like Barcadia, but loved Curbside. I never got that.

I have. It was rancid, as OB said.

Eh .. it's alright. Worth the price during happy hour but not outside of that, to me.

Their tempura green beans though.. I can eat a whole mess of those.

Like has been said, Bouligny is cool because it's serving good drinks, offers a nice atmosphere as opposed to the dive bars in uptown and there's always good looking women in there.

I like Barcadia but it does have some of the douche element to it

Curbside was a food truck with good burgers

Barcadia is a bar with mediocre burgers, an odd atmosphere and pretty lame clientele

Yeah, you either had a bad experience or you're just wrong.

Delachaise is a really good place.

I just don't think it's his cup of tea. I think their food is quite good and I like that it's one of the few bars around without a TV. Usually a cool crowd there and they have nice wine and liquor selections. Women abound on weekend too.
