Anyone try any fruit smoothie beers? They are really good. An example would be Tastee of any variety from the Veil in richmond. You have to keep them cold because they have real fruit in them.

Great summer beer. Has to be in a 12-pack though. Clear bottles exposed to UV is not a good thing. 6-packs are skunky.

IPAs are my go to and I typically drink all types year around, but typically drink seasonally if that makes any sense.

For example, in the spring I drink a lot of saisons and hefewizens. In the summertime, I typically opt for pale ales, goses. In the fall, I go for browns, marzens, some porters. Winter time is stouts, porters, etc.

I came to stouts later in life, and I love them, although I’m not a fan of any coffee or chocolate infused stout I’ve tried. I like the regular style. ThTs just me.

I was surprised when I found out that a stout’s alcoholic and caloric content were lower than the beer I had been drinking.

Do y'all like a variety of styles or do you heavily favor one style over another.

I like a variety. When I'm out at a brewery or brewpub, I'll get whatever I'm in the mood for. It might be an IPA, a porter, an amber, some sort of lager or whatever. When it comes to beers that I make, I rarely brew dark beers. 10 gallons of stout gets old after a while. I actually have an imperial stout in the fermenter right now but that's a once in a few years event.

I hear many people say they get tired of dark beers after a while, especially as the weather warms up. I, however, never change. I am a dark beer guy all year.

Tell me how that imperial stout is, though, baw!

I will in a few weeks. It's a 10 gallon batch that I'm splitting with a friend of mine. When it has fermented out, I'm going to keg it and add some oak cubes to one of the kegs. Then we're going to split the contents of each keg so we'll each get half oaked and half un-oaked.

It's supposed to be a clone recipe of Great Divide Yeti so we'll see. OG was 1.103 and we're at 1.031 now so not much more to go.

I've done a couple of dark beers that would drink well any time of year. I did a black IPA one time that came out great. And I did a dark Czech lager that was almost like a black pilsner. Neither of these beers had a big roasty component, despite being black as the inside of a buffalo on a moonless night.

“Dark” is a dated term to describe beer. It implies “heavy” to many but many dark colored beers are not heavy, like Guinness.

I’ll drink almost any style of beer, but not too fond of sours. I drink more Pilsner, lagers, pale ales and IPAs from spring to fall. I love a good heavy stout or porter on a cold night in the winter.
